Animal Traps

Animal Traps
Originally uploaded by Derek & Sarah Grant.

Lately, Derek has been studying all about Dao animal traps. The Dao people are good teachers, and so far have taught him to build
cassowary, kuskus, and mouse traps. All of the traps have a trigger which an animal will set off and get snared in a vine. The
cassowary and mouse traps use a bent over stick in the ground to provide the force to set off the snare. The kuskus traps are built
on top of a log, and when the trigger goes, a large rock falls, and closes the snare. These are smart people to come up with this
stuff. Here is Bodanimena teaching Derek to make a Cassowary trap. We hope to get some good meat soon!
