Amiyo and Bokoisibo are 2 of the young guys who have been super interested in the Bible teaching. They are faithfully there each day, and hang on every word. These 2 guys have shown clear understanding so far, and are well aware of their sin before a holy God. Please pray for them as they continue to listen. Derek will be introducing Jesus this week as the one alluded to in the lessons so far as the coming Redeemer. Please, also pray that they would not only understand and be saved, but that their old beief system would be smashed apart and replaced with the truth of God's Word, not merely synchronized into their existing beliefs. Pray they would become strong, mature believers.

Literacy

Every morning, after the Bible teaching, a couple Dao guys teach a literacy class.
Please pray that more of the older men and women would come and learn to read.
In order for the Dao church to grow, we need people who can read God's Word.

The Phase 1 (Creation to Christ) teaching begun in Dao September 17th. All the people specifically invited to come hear have come and stayed! Please be in prayer for the lost souls who are attending the lessons.
Derek has been teaching, alongside 2 Dao men (Yoni and Kogepiyaa), using illustrations, pictures and skits to keep the attention of the listeners. Each day, they ask lots of questions to ascertain their understanding, and so far most are tracking well. Yoni, in the picture, told us that he is sleeping in a different hut each night so that he can talk and ask questions with different people. Pretty cool! He is just a teenager, but is showing signs of growth and maturity. This hasn't been any easy time on our family, but we are excited about what the Lord is doing and we continue to pray for more Dao brothers and sisters.

Kali now wants to stand all on her own. She pushes herself up to her feet, raises her arms over her head, and laughs out loud before flopping to the ground. She has yet to take a step without holding our hands, but I'm sure it won't be long!

Malnourished

This little one's mother died this past year. She was only a few months old at the time, and her step mother was unable to nurse her. Our co-workers were here at the time, and gave her some formula and powdered milk. When we returned to Dao, we started doing the same for her. She was super malnourished, but seems to be doing much better now. Her step mom takes really good care of her. She is a sweet lady. Please be praying for that family to grow in the Lord. Her husband isn't interested in God's Word, but she is, although she still shows much fear of the spirits and still walks in the old ways. She has 2 older sons who live in town, but seem to be getting in to a bit of trouble. She has another daughter who is approximately 6 years old, and this little one to care for at home.

We celebrated Kali's 1st birthday while in town, as-well. It was a monkey theme, with a cake to match. She is growing into such a sweet, fun little girl. We are so proud and blessed to have this ray of sunshine in our lives.

The girls here are married off at a young age. We don't know their exact ages, but we guess they are around 10-12 years old.
This is Kidipiyaato. We've known her since she was just a baby. Crazy to think in just another few years, or less, she'll probably be married!
We pray she will be married off to a good man who will treat her well, and who will walk with the Lord.

These two little ones lost their dad, Wikipai, 3 years ago. Wikipai was one of our main Bible teachers, and he and his wife, Moipi, were very close friends. After he died, his wife was taken as a 2nd wife to a man named Yohanes. Yohanes is a tough guy, who has shown much resistance in the past. I have yet to see Moipi since she hasn't been back to our area since she was re-married, even though it is only a 2 hour hike away. Yohanes has forbidden her to come up here, where her husband died. Please pray for Yohanes to be open an receptive, as-well as for Moipi (who is a believer) to grow in her faith and these 2 little ones to also come to know their Saviour.

Our friend, Kogepiyaa, made Silas his own little bow and arrows the other day. Here he is teaching Silas how to use it. Silas says any bird who comes near our house, he's going to shoot it.

We often see rainbows in Dao. This is the end of one. We didn't get to see the beginning of it, so it's starting to fade. Usually we see 2 rainbows side by side, fill up the sky.
