We received a few more details from Sarah's mom. Here are a few paragraphs from her mom's email:

“Chloe didn't have her surgery until 5:30 and the doctors weren't able to do all they wanted to. With children, they can't keep>
them under anesthetic too long. They had hoped there was enough skin to do a skin graft but there wasn't so they have to go back on Friday and do something else. They want to get the wound all closed in so it can start healing. There was no infection. So that was a blessing. She was running a fever but they seemed to have that under control...they gave her an epidural to numb her from the waist down. They also give her morphine for the pain from her arm. She is using her arm so it appears there is little or no nerve and muscle damage to the cut on her arm. They also took out the breathing tube and the feeding tube. They were preparing her for surgery so they didn't want her to eat anything or they may have taken it out sooner. But they were able to take all that <>
out and she can finally have something to drink by mouth. Dad said her color is good and she seems to be doing fairly well. She is talking and >
awake but is more subdued because of the trauma and the drugs. The nurses say she is easy to handle. Dad said they seemd to be getting past the initial shock of the accident and are more encouraged as the doctors tell them she is doing well. He said the hospital is top notch. There are excellent nurses and doctors there and they tell the parents exactly what is happening and what they are going to do. No holding back. <>
I will be praying for you as you start formal language learning on Friday and that you can keep your mind on what you need to learn.> <>
Things are going well here and Dad was encouraged by Joel and Kari and how they are now beginning to handle things. It is still hard but as the >
days go by, many of the initial feelings will fade and then begins the healing of the soul and spirit. I still can't help but feel that God is doing something miraculous in all our lives but especially in the lives <>
of Joel and Kari right now. We can't see it all but we have a God who knows the beginning from the end and has planned His perfect will for>
them.”

Wow! I just got your email! We will be praying fervently for Chloe.
Blogs are a wonderful way to keep up to date! I add to mine frequently, so feel welcome to visit!
I've heard alot about the volcano from Jareb and Amy McClain - sounds so devestating. Here in Oregon we have a chain of volcanic mountains, but the last one to go was St. Helens and that was last year- AND it was not a huge mess.
Thanks for the update! Enjoy language study!
